What's the role?


Reporting to the Head of People Business Partnering, the Regional People Business Partner will act as a trusted advisor to the Territory President and their cross-functional leadership team, collaborating to shape and implement People Strategies to align People initiatives with business goals, foster a positive workplace culture, and drive overall organisational success.


The responsibilities include:


  • Partner with the Territory President and their cross-functional leadership team to develop and execute an annual People Plan that delivers against Zespri’s Global People Strategy and prioritises Territory specific people activities.
  • Build credibility as a strong trusted advisor and coach to the Territory President and their leadership team, peers, and the broader People Team.
  • Provide key inputs into People Strategy decisions and deploy initiatives across the Function in conjunction with the People Team.
  • Representative as People lead for the Region, managing local employment/legislative issues and foster a collaborative cross-functional regional People team.
  • Play a strong influence lead of the Regional People Team “Eco-System”:
  • Lead Engagement, Capability, Organisational Design, Workforce Plans, Talent Management, Remuneration, Safety & Wellbeing and Change projects across the Function globally in partnership with People Team Centres of Expertise, Territory President and their leadership team.
  • Partner with leaders across the business to support job design, change, performance improvement, disciplinary and other employment matters in line with Zespri’s overall frameworks, escalating more complex and challenging matters for support.
  • Champion safety and wellbeing across Zespri. Work in partnership with the Safety and Wellbeing Team to implement Safety and Wellbeing Plan for your Business Unit/s.
  • Partner and collaborate closely with the Regional People Business Partner on local employment/legislative issues and investigate and resolve complex employee relations issues, ensuring a fair and consistent approach while maintaining legal compliance.   
  • Partner closely with People & Payroll Advisors and the PeopleZone operational team to ensure seamless delivery of operational people priorities and processes across the business.
  • Partner with the Talent Acquisition Team (and People Leader) to deliver resourcing and talent acquisition requirements, in line with Zespri’s overall Talent Acquisition Strategy and business requirements.
  • Partner closely with People Experience & Capability team to facilitate capability programs and initiatives to support our people to continue to develop, in alignment with Zespri’s People Strategy.
  • Act as a steady guide and subject matter expert  in complex global and regional stakeholder environments, translating Zespri global policy and local market legislative practice requirements. 
  • Champion safety and wellbeing across Zespri. Work in partnership with the Safety and Wellbeing Team to implement Safety and Wellbeing Plan for your Business Unit/s.
  • Act as an advocate for Zespri’s culture, values, and purpose with the business.


Who are you?

We are looking for an individual who has proven experience within HR business partnering and posseses exceptional relationship building abilities and a collaborative mutually beneficial mindset. The ability to thrive in a dynamic, changeable environment will be a key to success in this role and the successful candidate will have:


  • 8+ years of Business Partnering and/or Generalist HR experience
  • A degree level qualification (preferably in Human Resources, Organization Development, Industrial Relations, or Business Management)
  • Experience working in a global multi-national matrix organization
  • Global Human Resources experience preferred plan and/or business needs.
  • Deep knowledge and experience within the APAC region and of it’s employment legislative landscape / culture / local nuances
  • Strong leadership development, coaching and influencing skills 
  • Keen business and commercial acumen
  • Key expertise across a combination on organisational design, workforce planning, employment relations  change management, talent development and succession planning 
  • Strong time, priority, and stakeholder management capability
  • Strong teamwork, collaboration and facilitation skills
  • Strong cross-cultural competence
  • Good executive presence
  • Bilingual in both English and Japanese, written and verbal language skills due to the nature of the role
