About The Role

 

 

 

The Senior Accountant GC Region is broadly responsible for supporting the China Finance Team and in particular the Accounting Manager GC Region. This role also acts as a back up to the Accounting Manager – GC Region when required. 

The GC Region is defined as our business and commercial transactions of an estimate RMB 4.5B for the 2021 season with a shared service functions to support the various local entities (ZFS + Beijing/Guangzhou Branch), ZFIS + Chengdu Branch, ZFPC, ZMCC, ZIA – Taiwan Branch and Hong Kong DSO sales) within the region. 

The Senior Accountant needs to provide strong financial, governance and administrative support to the Accounting Manager. Support the oversight of the entire Marketing, Sales and Operations, ZGS and Innovation teams.  

The Senior Accountant is also supports the business and commercial transactions in the region along with the Accounting Manager and China Finance team. 

Specific accountabilities include:
•  Monitoring the financial performance for all GC region entities and supporting the Accounting Manager 
•  Overseeing GL/AP and AR functions within the GC region 
•  Overseeing internal and external financial reporting and accounting, including taxation.
•  Mitigating risk through best practice governance

 

 

Accountabilities

 

 

 


• Ensure key account balances are reconciled to the sub ledger and monthly trial balances for all entities within the GC region  
• Support the Accounting Manager and ensure all GL/AP and AR issues/matters are resolved and escalate when necessary
• With Accounting Manager, support the GC AR function – specifically following up on collections when necessary with AR officer, managing the BG process, releasing sales orders and credit limit management. 
• Follow through payments as and when required and ensure that they adhere to the Delegated Authorities Manual and Zespri Policies; 
• With the support from NZ shared service operations, ensure intercompany reconciliations and recharge transactions are properly carried out and settled at month/year end  to mitigate ZIL’s risk with foreign currency restrictions
• Ensure accuracy of transactions via proper coding and cost centre management (K2 management and Finance review) 
• Review monthly China P&L for accuracy and reasonableness and ensure tax provisions / payments are sufficient and within CIT expectations
• As part of the monthly China P&L review, extract costs centres from SAP / Spendvision to manage and assist with monthly forecasting and variance analysis with our Commercial Team. There is a need to understand the overall GC performance against what is being extracted to ensure reasonable overhead cost for cost effectiveness  
• Liaise with local service providers (i.e. EY and Deloitte) to ensure local tax regulations are complied with. This also include company tax, direct and indirect taxes, transfer pricing, customs/tax audits, GTS system and etc.
• Oversee fixed asset management, control and tracking
• Monitor and oversee cashflow forecasts and projection and request for funding when necessary (especially smaller entities) 
• Prepare month end journals and review BS reconciliation with Accounting Manager and Head of Finance
• Work with treasury and share services team to ensure that fruit invoices between ZIL and ZFS is paid on a regular internal
• Be responsible and understand and appreciate commercial pricing, quality claims and rebates/incentives are important and apply them to the Zespri RF process 
• Assist with the management of external audits, statutory accounts and compliance requirements 
• Preparing year-end submission, IFRS and disclosure pack reporting
• Share knowledge with local team to equip the team with basis knowledge on K2 coding and internal Zespri’s control and governance 
• Preparing marketing report for marketing team to do their budget tracking on monthly basis 
• Other adhoc projects as and when needed. 

 

 

Key performance measures:
• Ensure monthly P&L review and measure against budget 
• Deliver the monthly reconciliations on time for market with the support from NZ  
• Ensure that local accounting transactions have been coded correctly  
• Ensure that tax and regulatory compliance are accurate and absolute 
• Ensure that duties and taxes are paid on time for the region 
• Ensure Budget and Year End Audits are completed and signed off according to the agreed time frame
• Ensure the understanding of Zespri way of doing things apply and comply with the Zespri culture
• Some traveling may be required from time to time 
• Other as agreed from time to time 

 

 

Qualifications & Experience

 

 

 


•    Minimum Accounting Degree qualified, or similar 
•    Chartered accountancy qualification is a strong plus.
•    5 + working experience as a senior accountant for an international company is a strong plus. 
•    Competence in Excel spreadsheets and power point presentation 
•    Experience with assisting the preparation of corporate tax returns (CIT), VAT, SD and WHT returns (and using the Golden Tax System)
•    Experience with SAP, or any ERP accounting software 
•    Good command of English language both in oral and written
•    Strong analytical thinking, interest in technical solutions and ability to communicate concisely 
•    Strong team player with accountability and good communication skills.
•    Self-motivated and pro-active; Can-do attitude
•    Ability to work and succeed in a dynamic environment, 
•    Ability to develop strong Zespri relationships across functions
