What's the role?


Zespri's Supply Chain is intricately designed around the variable supply of a perishable product, characterized by highly seasonal demand. Notably, Korea stands out as a pivotal market for Zespri, exhibiting a high growth rate and playing a central role in future expansion.


You will be involved in various quality and inventory programs with distribution partners, ultimately increasing the market contribution from the region to the overall business revenue.

Key Responsibilities include:


1.    Optimization Fruit Quality for Zespri Consumers

  • Execute fruit quality control and inventory management programmes in the Korea markets by working closely with distribution partners.   
  • Abreast with arrival & storage quality in the market, coupled with quality information shared by New Zealand, this role is expected to communicate load out priority to distribution partners to minimize fruit loss at customers’ end and quality claims at Zespri’s end.


2.    Management of In Market Quality Outturn 

  • Manage arrival quality inspection programme to collect useful quality data to support distribution partners on load out priority & to manage quality claims from distribution partners
  • Execute arrival quality management to support distribution partners’ sales planning and distribution to various channels to minimise fruit loss and to maximise profit
  • Manage the Ready to Retail and Ready to Eat programs, where applicable


3.    Minimisation of Waste with Effective Inventory Management Processes

  • Support distribution partners in establishing effective inventory management programme to ensure delivery of highest quality fruits to consumers
  • Support Operations Manager, Korea, on inventory optimization for distribution partners to avoid overstocking situations 
  • Support distributors on load-out prioritization to minimize waste and to ensure good quality product for consumers by proactively sharing arrival and monitoring quality reports/findings with distribution partners


4.    Management of Quality Accruals & Claim Pay out

  • Monitor quality accruals for financial forecast 
  • Follow through a transparent and factual base calculation on claim payouts



Who are you?

We are looking for an independent individual who has proven track record in quality control and communication skill. The ability to thrive in a dynamic, changeable environment will be a key to success in this role and the successful candidate will have:


  • Tertiary qualification, preferably has technical background in food and horticultural postharvest technology
  • At least ten years’ experience in quality management and operation management, preferably in the chilled and perishable food and beverage industry
  • Lead the quality 3rd party and Logistic service provider
  • Language skills – Proficiency in business English (spoken and written) and Korean due to the nature of the role
  • Good analytical skills
  • Good in Microsoft Excel and technology inclined
  • Good interpersonal skill, superior relating and networking abilities (internal and external, across culture) with a world-class customer focus and proven track record of consistently identifying and meeting customer needs
  • Strong persuasion/influencing skills, with the ability to gain clear commitment from a wide range of individuals, including but not limited to customers and senior management;
  • Ability to apply inventive thinking to manage risk and identify opportunities;
