We have an exciting opportunity for a Group Finance Manager to join our Finance team and oversee global financial accounting and reporting at Zespri. In this pivotal role, the Group Finance Manager ensures best practice across financial accounting processes, delivering timely, accurate, and IFRS-compliant information for internal and external reporting. 

 

With proven technical accounting expertise, the Group Finance Manager will translate complex reporting requirements into clear guidance for colleagues at all levels and drive continuous improvement in end-to-end financial accounting and reporting.

 

Key Accountabilities include:

 

Financial Information & Reporting

  • Lead monthly and annual reporting timelines, including preparation of consolidated financial statements under IFRS and analysis for senior management.
  • Review and resolve issues in group reporting, including balance sheet and P&L reconciliations, intercompany transactions, and foreign exchange exposure.
  • Provide technical accounting guidance and prepare papers on IFRS matters and policy changes.
  • Manage statutory audit processes, ensuring timely completion of the annual audit and preparation of the Annual Report.
  • Develop and enforce group financial policies, controls, and compliance with regulatory reporting requirements.
  • Drive continuous improvement initiatives to simplify and enhance reporting processes.

 

Risk & Compliance

  • Enhance reporting and financial controls by maintaining, monitoring, and where necessary, developing and implementing clear group policies to ensure a robust control environment.
  • Identify and manage financial risks to ensure adequate working capital and effective investment for operations, growth, and continuity.

 

Team Leadership & Contribution to the Finance team

  • Lead, coach, and motivate the finance team, fostering a collaborative and transparent culture.
  • Manage and influence onshore and offshore teams while promoting a ‘one finance’ mindset.
  • Partner with global and regional counterparts on process alignment, special projects, and ad-hoc initiatives.
  • Provide technical guidance and training to ensure compliance with IFRS and company policies across all Zespri offices.

We are seeking a qualified Chartered Accountant with over 10 years’ post-qualification experience, ideally combining a Chartered Accounting or Audit background with time spent in a publicly listed company or multinational organisation. The ideal candidate will also have:

 

  • Deep expertise in IFRS, with hands-on experience preparing and reviewing consolidations.
  • The ability to work efficiently and maintain high standards of discipline in producing and documenting work.
  • A curious, improvement-focused mindset, always seeking to strengthen financial accounting practices.
  • Outstanding written and verbal communication skills, and a collaborative, team-oriented approach.
  • Strategic thinking, strong analytical abilities, and sound business and financial judgement.
  • Proven leadership skills that foster innovation, accountability, and continuous improvement.
  • A commitment to developing people, systems, and processes for ongoing enhancement.
  • Experience with SAP is preferred.
