He aha te mahi? What's the role?

 

The Geospatial Analyst plays a critical role in enabling data-informed and sustainable decision-making across Zespri’s global kiwifruit operations. This role will lead the collection, advanced analysis, AI-enabled visualisation, and interpretation of spatial and geospatial data to provide actionable insights spanning orchard performance, supply chain optimisation, environmental monitoring, and strategic planning.

Working within the broader Data, AI, and Automation team, the Geospatial Analyst will collaborate with cross-functional teams to support a smarter, more resilient Zespri through geospatial intelligence. The role will also explore emerging capabilities such as digital twins, AI-driven modelling, and satellite imagery to elevate sustainability outcomes and operational agility.

Key Responsibilities

 

- Develop, maintain, and enhance geospatial datasets, maps, and dashboards using tools such as ArcGIS, QGIS, ESRI or similar platforms.
- Conduct spatial analysis to support orchard management, yield forecasting, land-use planning, and environmental initiatives.
- Integrate spatial data with business intelligence tools (e.g. SAC) to create interactive and decision-supporting visualisations.
- Partner with internal teams (Grower Services, Global Supply Chain, R&D, etc.) to understand geospatial needs and deliver fit-for-purpose insights.
- Assist in the development of geospatial models and predictive analytics to support operational planning and resource allocation.
- Ensure geospatial data governance, accuracy, and integration with enterprise systems.
- Support geospatial aspects of Zespri’s sustainability, traceability, and digital innovation initiatives.
- Stay up to date with trends in geospatial technology, remote sensing, drones, and AI/ML applications for spatial analysis.

With 3+ years of experience in GIS, geospatial analysis, or spatial data science, you will also meet the following criteria:

- Strong proficiency with GIS tools (ArcGIS, ESRI, QGIS) and spatial databases (PostGIS).
- Ability to write scripts for data automation (Python, SQL).
- Experience with spatial analysis, remote sensing, and data visualisation.
- Experience integrating geospatial data into BI platforms such as Power BI.
- Exposure to agriculture, horticulture, logistics, or supply chain contexts.
- Knowledge of drone imagery, satellite data, or GPS technologies.
- Excellent communication and collaboration skills.
