He aha te mahi? What's the role?
We need a casual Fruit Monitoring Technician to help with Zespri’s conditioning programme and uphold fruit quality standards. The role includes lab shifts from mid-March to late May, delivering test results to support the Conditioning Technical team. This is a short-term position during the kiwi fruit conditioning season to conduct Firmness, Colour and Brix tests in the lab.
Key Accountabilities include:
- Collect, test fruit maturity, assess fruit quality, and record fruit temperature
- Accurately record and maintain test results, ensuring data integrity across multiple trials
- Communicate testing outcomes promptly to the Conditioning Technical and support timely decision making
- Follow detailed testing procedures and trial requirements with precision
- Adhere to all health and safety standards in warehouse and laboratory environments
- Maintain clear daily communication with Operations Team Lead and Lab Technician

This is a practical, detail focused role so we are seeking someone who enjoys working with data, science based testing, and operational environments. You will also have:
- Good computer literacy, including keyboard skills; familiarity with Excel is an advantage.
- Strong attention to detail for accurate data entry and record keeping.
- Flexible and adaptable, with the ability to work weekends and public holidays when required.
- Able to work effectively and communicate respectfully with people from diverse nationalities, cultures, and backgrounds.
- Physically fit and able to work comfortably and safely on your feet for extended periods (up to 10 hours).
- Physically capable of lifting and carrying fruit samples up to 8 kg.
- Hold a full NZ drivers' licence to be able to drive to work.
