As part of the Accounts Payable team within Finance Shared Services, you’ll play a key part in ensuring the effective and timely resolution of accounts payable issues and accurate payment of all approved invoices. Working alongside a supportive team role will be involved in the completion of Accounts Payable tasks including processing invoices, making payments, follow-up and resolution of queries and exceptions, and liaising with business users and vendors as required. 

 

Key accountabilities include:

 

  • Invoice & Payment Processing:  Receive, review, and process invoices and expenses in the electronic system. Manage payment runs for both NZ and offshore vendors, ensuring accuracy and adherence to payment terms. 
  • Query Resolution & Stakeholder Liaison:  Work closely with business users, offshore finance teams, and vendors to resolve queries, exceptions, and outstanding items. Provide training and support as needed.
  • Data Maintenance:  Collaborate to maintain accurate vendor master data, address bank rejections, and resolve AP data issues that impact payments.
  • Reconciliation & Reporting:  Perform monthly reconciliations of vendor accounts and support accurate AP reporting.
  • Continuous Improvement:  Contribute to process and system improvements, participate in user acceptance testing, and support the implementation of new tools and upgrades.
  • Team Support & Collaboration:  Assist with clearing finance backlogs, maintaining process documentation, and supporting the wider finance team.

The successful candidate will have:

 

  • A minimum of four years high school education with further tertiary studies in business/accounting.
  • Previous general accounting experience (AP, AR, general ledger journals and reconciliations) within a commercial environment.
  • A strong understanding of accounting processes and procedures.
  • Proven ability to process invoices, expenses, and payments accurately and efficiently.
  • Confidence using Microsoft Office, medium Excel experience is required.
  • Experience in using SAP or other major corporate ERP system.
  • Strong attention to detail and commitment to maintaining high data quality.
  • A proactive approach to problem-solving and continuous improvement.
