Reporting to the Head of Europe of Supply Chain, the Logistics Manager provides leadership to the Logistic team and is an influential leader within the wider ZGS Supply Chain team. The Logistics team is responsible for providing logistical and export documentation services for European supply of 30 million trays of Kiwifruit to Zespri’s global markets. 

 

The job can be based both in Bologna or Aprilia.

 

Key Accountabilities include:

Lead the Logistics and Export Documentation Team to deliver the supply of European Kiwifruit

  • Lead the operations of Logistics and Shipping for European fruit to Markets
  • Responsible for the negotiation process of the European and Export rates through an official seasonal RFP
  • Show leadership and role model the company values


Contribute to strategic and operational improvements for future seasons

  • Leading a culture of continuous process improvement for the Logistics and Export Documentation teams
  • Provide leadership in developing clear and concise quantitative and qualitative inputs to facilitate the development of shipping contracts and key measures for the Logistic contracts
     

Contribute positively as a leader of the European Team

  • Provide leadership and positive influence, including making decisions relating to the operational, strategic and people aspects of the logistic and shipping department in Europe
  • Contribute openly as a member of the Supply Chain Team and provide support to the Head of Europe Supply Chain both operationally and strategically 
  • Create, grow, develop, and empower the Logistics team ensuring that the team is high performing and highly engaged

We are looking for a seasoned and energetic Logistics Manager who possesses at least three years experience within the shipping industry. In addition you will have:

 

  • 3 – 5 years logistics planning or shipping experience
  • Strong computer/systems skills
  • Excellent interpersonal, negotiating and influencing skills
  • A relevant qualification in Operations, Supply Chain Management or Logistics
  • Excellent working knowledge of IT packages, SAP, Microsoft Office, including advanced Excel skills
  • Detailed understanding about business and logistics optimization, constraints models and scenario modelling
  • Ability to communicate and work with a wide and diverse range of people
