About The Role

 

As a member of the Europe & North America Supply Chain Team, the Supply Chain Development Manager will report to the Head of Supply Chain ENA and work closely with the in-market Europe team. This role has responsibilities for supply chain design, network optimization, operational and technical aspects of the EU supply chain.  Specifically, this position focuses on

 

  • Project Management Delivery on Network Design & Optimization
  • Optimizing fruit quality and inventory management through supply chain optimization projects
  • Leading role in market project management through Integrated Business Planning (IBP) Strategies and Network Design & Optimization 
  • Maintaining strong relations with Zespri internal and external key stakeholders at a technical/ supply chain level across Europe 
  • Optimizing service level and cost trade-offs
  • Continuous improvement of supply chain processes, metrics, and systems

Accountabilities

 

Working with the Head of Supply Chain ENA and Industry stakeholder groups, this role will contribute to the strategic design of the landside logistics network to configure onshore logistics to service volume growth. 

 

  • Work cross functionally to identify and drive operational and process improvement projects across Zespri’s supply chain organization
  • Develop end-to-end supply chain and network optimization solution that leverage the broader Zespri volume, systems, and partnerships, while driving consistently higher levels of service and maximizing productivity
  • Utilize quantitative and modelling skills to analyze large amounts of data and draw conclusions, develop a project plan, present plan for approval, and drive development of project management tasks, resource identification, and implementation planning. Exercise vertical and horizontal communication for progress on deliverables
  • Utilize mathematical and statistical methods/formulas, financial analysis (e.g., IRR, ROI, NPV, etc.), and sensitivity analyses to develop and present cost-benefits analysis and go-forward recommendations
  • Provide insightful, solution-oriented, oral and written recommendations to executive management and appropriate business partners around new practices, processes, metrics, or models
  • Develop best practices, scalable mechanisms, and repeatable processes on all aspects of the program: preparation, blueprinting, design and build/deploy phases of the enterprise transformation.
  • Program tracking and common project management principles (agile development and project management methods, e.g. SCRUM); mapping complex combinations of resources against objectives, track dependencies and risk, impact assessment of change across interdependent workstreams and projects.
  • Lead and improve operational & reporting procedures (activities, goals, funding, budgeting, etc.)
  • Participate in workshops, design sessions and other program management activates as needed, to drive program adoption by key stakeholders
  • Ensure realistic estimates of costs, schedule, scope and resources are agreed and carries out the monitoring of project, taking corrective action as necessary
  • Aggregate project/workstream status into program-level risks, assumptions and interdependencies
  • Report on overall delivery status to program leadership, PMO leadership and various stakeholders
  • Influence senior stakeholders to define and agree on a program management framework, including creation of the steering group or committee, and identification of program sponsors. Manage expectations of program stakeholders, including Business and Technology sponsors
  • Ensure that a change control procedure is in place, and is used to assess the effect of changes to the projects on costs, schedule, scope and resources
  • Develop key performance indicators (KPIs), metrics, and periodic reporting to help drive execution, process uniformity, and improvement throughout the supply chain

  • Collaborate with suppliers and customers on projects to improve the velocity and flow of product throughout the supply chain, while minimizing occurrences and sources of friction
  • Optimize partner/supplier assets which is inclusive of physical building and utilities, manufacturing/ warehouse equipment and tooling, office devices and physical layout of facility
  • Identify new technologies and associated processes to drive efficiency, productivity and optimal network design. This should include interfacing with Manufacturing, Planning, Transportation and Commercial strategies to ensure optimal end-to-end supply chain
  • Provide input and support leadership of the core supply chain team in designing the future, integrated supply chain solution. 
  • Champion Lean engineering goals.  Includes being an aid in developing, implementing, and maintaining a Lean culture within the organization using a hands-on approach to provide input on processes from a quality perspective.
  • Generate, interpret, analyse, and communicate results using management tools, graphs, and reports; actively coach the organization concerning quality with tools and reports.
  • Provide leadership and support to packaging and continuous improvement initiatives at the individual work cell level including packaging studies to analyse effectiveness of the packaging system, development of packaging standards and improvements to existing packaging.
  • Study engineering drawings, physical characteristics of products, customer preferences and materials to design, develop, and improve cost effective packaging.
  • Develop, implement, and review packaging methods as well as documenting packaging process.
  • Analyse and make recommendations to improve pack utilization.

Qualifications

 

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Process/Mechanical Engineering, Logistics/Supply Chain or Project Management. Master’s Degree Concentration in Business/Supply Chain/Logistics preferred
  • 10+ combined years of experience in supply chain operations, quality or technical experience is preferred
  • 7+ years’ experience in managing projects & people, preferably managing regional supply chain managers in different countries
  • Exposure to SAP, ERP, or WMS (Planning, APO, SD Modules)
  • Ability to build, discuss, and implement a wide range of topics from business strategy to the tactical execution of the strategy
  • Strong team player who demonstrates strong personal initiative and integrity
  • Familiar with cold chain warehousing, cold chain ocean logistics, distribution management.
  • Understanding of FMCG industry, Fresh produce, or 3rd Party Logistic industry is preferred
  • Highly developed computer skills, including Microsoft Excel, Access, Word, Visio or equivalent, and Project Management software are required. Knowledge of Excel should include pivot tables and familiarity with common formulas. Proficiency in Access, with thorough knowledge of relational database creation, queries, forms, reports, macros, and functions.  Proficient in using AutoCAD to design functional workings of solutions in 3D and 2D formats. Strong knowledge and skills in network design/simulation software, e.g., CAST, Supply Chain Guru or equivalent.
  • Supply chain certification like CSCP, CPIM, Six Sigma Black or Green Belt Preferred 
  • Ability to travel
