About The Role

People and Payroll Advisor

This is a great opportunity to join our Global People team as a Payroll & People Advisor. You will be the key people and payroll contact for Zespri Belgium, Netherlands, Sweden, Switzerland, UK and Germany, and work closely with our People and Payroll Advisor in Italy to provide back-up  coverage and support for each other, alongside the wider global Advisory team where we have coverage across 21 countries. 

This is a critical role within our Zespri team and is responsible for facilitating people related processes and services, processing regional payroll and responding to people and payroll queries. You will also provide people and payroll (financial) related reporting, coordinate with payroll vendors as well as manage administration associated with onboarding, cross boarding and other employee activities during their life cycle with Zespri. 

You will be a real team player, having the opportunity to develop strong relationships across the globe, and work together to continuously improve our service delivery and practices, working alongside the People Business Partners and the wider team to achieve our People objectives.


Payroll Processing and Support


  • Resolve Regional Payroll queries 
  • Payroll coordination and processing for applicable countries (Belgium, Netherlands, Sweden, Switzerland, UK and Germany)
  • Liaise with Payroll vendors 
  • Provide Financial related reporting 
  • Assist with the onboarding and termination of employees as it relates to payroll processing
  • Monthly reporting i.e. Time and leave reporting
  • Provide backup payroll services for the other Europe Payroll Advisor and wider team. 


People Transactional Services

  • Generation of Employment Agreements and variation letters for people movements 
  • Provide documentation to support People related activities including Certificates of Service, Terminations confirmation, Secondment and Global assignment
  • Support and execute onboarding and offboarding activities
  • Visa and Global mobility coordination 
  • Coordination and facilitation of employee insurance and benefit plans
  • Vehicle/fleet management 
  • Responding to employee and people leader queries through the people team mailbox and direct enquiries 
  • Administration and coordination to support the annual people cycle i.e. performance reviews, annual remuneration review etc.
  • Maintain employee (personnel) files 
  • Support, contribute to, and implement people process excellence improvements 
  • Reporting for people topics
  • Contribute to the global transactional team and provide cover and support as needed.


People Systems and Process support


  • People Advisory level 1 & 2 queries of our HRIS - provide expert knowledge in Zespri People processes
  • Act as key stakeholder and contribute to and support process improvement work

Qualifications & Experience


The successful candidate will ideally have proven payroll and HR coordination experience within a large corporate environment.  A tertiary qualification in Human Resource Management (or similar) is a real advantage. 

We are also looking for an individual who has: 

  • A passion for teamwork and exceptional service
  • Solid payroll coordination experience - preferably in a complex environment with multiple countries
  • Previous HR coordination experience including HR admin, employment contract generation & variations across multiple countries
  • A working understanding of human resource and payroll principles, practices and procedures (including experience supporting visa processing)
  • Experience working with employee related HRIS systems. Past experience using ProTime is a plus.
  • Strong Microsoft Office skills particularly with Excel
  • A positive demeanor and excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • A passion for people with exceptional interpersonal/customer service skills
  • Good organizational skills and a strong attention to detail
  • Excellent time management skills with a proven ability to meet deadlines
  • Ability to function well in a high-paced and complex environment
  • Fluent in English and Dutch
